1. Lessons:
The Instructor agrees to provide piano/guitar lessons to the Student for the duration of this contract.
Lessons will be conducted at the home of the Student unless otherwise agreed upon by both parties.
The lesson duration will be either 30 minutes or 45 minutes, based on the Student’s enrollment choice.
2. Student Expectations:
The Student agrees to practice regularly between lessons to ensure progress and maximize the benefits of the lessons.
3. Performances:
A recital will be held each year in December. All students are expected to attend and perform a minimum of one piece.

4. Materials:
The Student is responsible for purchasing any required learning materials, such as sheet music or method books.
It is expected that the Student owns/possesses their instrument. Home Sweet Harmonies does not provide or rent instruments.
5. Parent Presence Requirement
For the safety of both students and instructors, a parent or guardian must be present in the home for the entire duration of each lesson. While they do not need to actively watch the lesson, they must remain on the premises.
If a parent or guardian is not home at the time of the lesson, the lesson will be canceled, and no refund or makeup lesson will be provided.
Home Sweet Harmonies and its instructors are not responsible for the supervision of children outside of their scheduled lesson time. By enrolling in lessons, you acknowledge that all liability for the child’s safety and well-being remains with the parent or guardian.
6. Cancellations and Missed Lessons:
Home Sweet Harmonies uses a flat-rate tuition model that accounts for scheduled holidays and studio breaks, an expected amount of student sick/vacation days, and up to 4 teacher absences per year. For this reason, individual missed lessons are not refundable and do not reduce tuition.
Student Absences: If a student misses a lesson, the lesson will not be refunded. You may coordinate directly with your teacher to attempt a make-up lesson when possible. Make-ups are not guaranteed and are subject entirely to teacher availability. Any make-up lesson must be scheduled and completed within 30 days of the missed lesson. Make-up lessons cannot be carried over into future months or accumulated throughout the year.
Teacher Absences: Because our teachers travel to students' homes, occasional unexpected teacher absences are to be expected due to illness, car trouble, or other unforeseen circumstances. Our tuition model includes an allowance of up to 4 teacher absences per year, which averages to approximately one missed lesson every three months. If a teacher exceeds the 4-absence annual allowance, additional missed lessons will be made up or credited toward the following month’s tuition.
Studio breaks and holidays are already accounted for in the annual tuition calculation and are not refunded or credited toward tuition.
7. Billing and Fees:
Home Sweet Harmonies uses a flat-rate annualized tuition model. We calculate the total number of lessons offered throughout the year, accounting for scheduled studio breaks/holidays, an expected amount of student sick/vacation days, and up to 4 teacher absences. The total is then divided evenly across 12 months, ensuring the same payment amount each month.
Monthly tuition rates:
30-minute lessons — $110/month
45-minute lessons — $145/month
Payments are processed through Stripe. You will be provided a secure link to make your first payment, which will store your payment method on file. After that, your card will be automatically charged on the 1st of each month.
A $15 late fee will be applied to any payments received after the 5th. If payment is not received by the 10th, lessons will be placed on hold until the balance is paid in full.
All billing questions, scheduling changes, enrollment changes, and requests to discontinue lessons must be communicated directly to Claire, the owner of Home Sweet Harmonies. These requests should not be made to the student’s individual teacher.
8. Discontinuation of Lessons:
A 30-day written notice is required to discontinue lessons. Notice must be provided directly to Claire, the owner of Home Sweet Harmonies, and not to the student’s individual teacher. The final month’s payment will still be due if notice is not provided at least 30 days before discontinuing lessons.
